If you have an endoscopy appointment with us, here is what to expect.

Endoscopy services

Our Endoscopy Service provides a comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality service delivered by a highly trained multidisciplinary team using evidence-based practice.

We are committed to providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centred care. Every patient is treated with dignity, respect, and individual attention in a calm, supportive, and welcoming environment.

An endoscopy is a medical procedure that allows clinicians to examine the inside of the body using a specialised instrument called an endoscope. An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube fitted with a light and a miniature camera, which transmits real-time images to a monitor to support accurate assessment and diagnosis.

Depending on the examination required, the endoscope is carefully passed into the body through a natural opening, such as the mouth and throat or through the anus (bottom).

Endoscopy procedures may be used to:

  • Investigate symptoms and concerns
  • Support the diagnosis of medical conditions
  • Obtain tissue samples (biopsies)
  • Monitor existing conditions
